LOCKED CASE OVERVIEW
Description

Economic projections of direct and indirect effects of coal-resource development were used to anticipate the types and forms of waste residuals that need to be assimilated into the environment. Based in part on these projections, several physical-based modeling tehcniques and assessment methods were used to evaluate the effects of these changes on the environment. Concern was given to projected increased water uses and how they are to be met within existing use patterns and other institutional constraints. Possible benefits of combining economic projections with a range of hydrologic studies were demonstrated.
