Erin Kathleen VanCamp Gerbrandt
was taken to be with the
Lord June 14, 2012. Erin was
born on St. Patrick's Day, March
17, 1981, to Shaunalee Fruit and
Kelley VanCamp in Farmington,
NM. The family moved to Las
Cruces, NM in 1989. Erin graduated
from Mayfield High School where she was a member of the
Chess Club and active in theater, including playing Maid Marian in
Robin Hood. She attended New Mexico State University and Southern
Utah University.
In 2007, she met the love of her life, Buddy Gerbrandt of Steinbach,
MB, Canada. They were married in April of 2008, and settled
in Steinbach. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters,
Rhianna in 2009 and Rachel in 2010. Erin worked in the Jake Epp
Library and tirelessly campaigned for a much needed expansion.
She was passionate about children's education and the need for more
activities for young people. She loved to read and write and was active
in a writing group with her friend Aubrey.
Erin's devotion to family and her faith was essential to her everyday
life. She started teaching her children to read before they could
walk. She would rather play games with the girls or read them a
story or teach them a song than worry about whether or not the
laundry was finished. She loved going on family outings and traveling
to visit relatives. She was never afraid to try new things and
will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Erin is survived by her husband, Buddy Gerbrandt, Steinbach, MB,
and daughters, Rhianna and Rachel; parents, Shaunalee Fruit of
Grand Junction, CO, and Kelley (Karen) Van Camp of Las Vegas,
NV; brothers, Jason (Alissa) VanCamp of Las Vegas, NM, and
Triston VanCamp of Grand Junction, CO; grandmother, Isla Fruit of
Grand Junction, CO; great-aunt, Eva Fruit of Clifton, CO, and numerous
aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral in Steinbach, MB, Canada was held June 20, 2012. A
Memorial Services will be held at the home of her mother, Shaunalee
Fruit, on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
