Elizabeth and Mathew Moore standing in their yard at Wolcott.
"Elizabeth Ann Brock was born of Martha and George Brock at Macon City, Mo., Aug. 24, 1854....She was united in marriage to Mathew Moore Dec. 24, 1875. Mr. Moore preceded her in death in 1920.
In 1889, with her family, Mrs. Moore moved to Wolcott, Colo., where the family was raised....During her active years, Mrs. Moore was one of the women who took an active part in all of the affairs...

The house was built in 1880-90's. It was moved from Keystone mines near Oak Creek in 1944 to the Leonard Horn Ranch. The house was sawed in half to get accross the frozen Colorado River at State Bridge in order to make the move. There is a barbed wire fence in the foreground and a rug airing on the porch rail.
10) Wolcott

The Wolcott bridge over the Eagle River is visible at midfield. It was a Luten arch bridge, constructed in 1916, and has since been replaced.
Lena Yost's father, Frank Sansosti, was the D&RG section foreman at Wolcott for many years. The railroad depot and section house are next to the tracks in this photo. The Sansosti family lived at Wolcott for 27 years.

Mrs. Frances E. (Welsh) Watson at the Hartman Ranch. Frances married George W. Watson in 1906. They managed the Beef and Pierce Cattle Co. in Maybelle, Colo., and the American Cattle Co. They ranched in Eagle County for 20 years until 1938.
Sally Welsh Hartman, Frances' sister, married Charles L. Hartman in Wolcott in 1909 and they ranched there until 1934. The Welsh family moved to Eagle County at Wolcott in 1883.
13) Hanscome's place

Hanscome's old home after the fire. Tango, the dog, is looking down the road.
Alfred and Mary Jane Baker Young Hanscome married at Grand Lake in 1883, then coming to Eagle County, about one mile west of Wolcott. They worked a small ranch until Alfred's death in 1919. Mrs. Hanscome died in 1921. -- Eagle Valley Enterprise Aug. 19, 1921 p.1

16) Leonard Horn

Leonard Horn on Red Point, on the north side of the Eagle River near Wolcott. He frequently jumped his horse across the crevice between the cliff and the hillside. The Horn ranch is visible at far left.
17) Koprinikar Ranch

The Koprinikar [Koprivnikar] ranch east of Wolcott, with barn and Mormon stacker. The ranch is now the Eagle Springs Golf Club at Wolcott. The barn has been incorporated into the course.
