At the bottom of the Eagle River Canyon below Gilman, Belden is situated on the railroad. Ore was loaded on train cars here. The surface tram ran from Gilman down to Belden. The debris from the downpour covers the railroad tracks at midfield. The water was 8 ft. deep between the compressor house and the loading tipple during the cloudburst.

12) Gold Dust Basin

"It is a 1948 view looking east into Gold Basin from the trail on the rim where George Burgess and I studied the cliffs to spot the trail down and judge if the pack horse could handle it. The Morgan cabin we stayed in is well portrayed.

14) Mine shack

When photographed in the mid-1980s, this mine shack was still standing on the east side of New York Mountain, above New York Lake and the timberline. The building was made of milled wood. In recent years, the structure has collapsed.
15) Iron Mask Mine

Iron Mask Mine near Gilman before it was destroyed by a fire in 1886. Wood is scattered at the upper right from a house that was blasted to prevent a fire from spreading.

The road into Bell's Camp in the summer time. The second house from the left was Eben Young's family house. Eben's father, Eben P. Young, Sr., and Fanny M.
