"The Horn ranch house on Rock Creek, two and one half miles above McCoy, as it was in 1917. Homesteaders Alvin Hart and Rooks built the cabin with the fireplace, the rest was added on by the Horns. The low building on the right was the kitchen, the two story addition had two bedrooms upstairs and the ground floor was the living room, the fireplace room served as a bunkhouse for ranch hands. "M. H. [Martin H.] and Clara Waldo came to Brush Creek around 1902 and ranched across the creek from the Shryacks until 1917, when they retired in California. Tom Carlin bought the ranch, and subsequent owners were Hans and Thelma Larsen and Glenn and Denzel Norman." -- [History of Brush Creek p.26]
The Waldo's had one daughter who married Ralph Wolverton. This couple had a son, Charles Wolverton.

Madison Cassius "Cash" Gates and his brother, Albert E. Gates (at right) visiting J. P. Gates in Burns. The child is unidentified.
"Madison Cassius Gates, born in 1852, like his older brothers Albert and James P., also had a desire for adventure. He migrated [from Ohio] westward to Hebron, Nebraska, around 1881, and later moved to California.

Anita Catharine Golburn Caveney with her daughter, Teresa Caveney (Lewis) in the spring of 1917 (Teresa was born Nov. 11, 1916). Teresa is in a baby carriage and Anita is holding her hand while posing for the photo. Anita has a floral bouquet attached to her bodice.
Anita's parents, Henry and Margaret Golburn were from Ireland. Anita married William J. Caveney and they lived in Chicago. Anita died in 1930.

In the caption, the woman is identified as his daughter, Anna, but given birth and death dates, the woman might also be his wife, Amelia "Milllie" Brown Gates. [Anna was born in 1882, so in this photo she should be 28.]
