Jacob and Lydia Buffehr, their parents, purchased the ranch at the mouth of Buffehr Creek (which flows from north to south, entering Gore Creek at what is now West Vail) in about 1916. Newell was cited as one of six landowners in the Gore Creek Valley in 1959 by Dick Hauserman [Inventors of Vail p.7]: "John Hanson, Gust Kaihtipes, Pete Katsos, Henry Anholtz, Newell Buffehr, and Jay Pulis."
Newell and his wife Mary moved to Denver for Mary's health. She died in 1962.

Clarence Fair was a delivery man for the Chambers Dairy and Creamery. Here, Clarence is driving his delivery truck. The large white container in the back is a freezer to keep goods cold throughout the day. Each driver had a log book for deliveries: what they delivered, where it was delivered, and the customer's information.
