Guy Truman Barnes in Missouri at the age of 16. Chaps and pistol were optional. Mr. Barnes and his family homesteaded on Castle and Eby Creek. He was also herdsman for Andrew Christiansen who raised Hereford cattle.

Castle Peak fire look-out cabin built in 1916; not used since 1938. Repairs done in 1962 or 1963. This area was prone to frequent electrical charges during storms and was therefore not continued as a fire lookout by the Forest Service.
