The concrete bridge at Wolcott, showing railroad tracks and equipment behind it. The bridge was built in 1916 during the period when the Colorado Highway Department was replacing many small wooden bridges with concrete structures. This one was on State Highway 131 and employed a Luten arch design, patented by Daniel B. Luten in 1905. Eagle County contracted with the Pueblo Bridge Company to build the bridge. "The Brooks Bridge, built by the railroad company during construction of the Dotsero Cutoff, replaced an earlier one near the same site. It is now in a sad state or repair and unsafe for other than light traffic. Adjacent to the north end of it is the railroad track and it was here that Leonard Horn had the misfortune to be caught by a train while driving cattle across the bridge, resulting in the loss of several head that were struck by the train."...
