The lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Gypsum, after a December 15,1990, late night fire. According to Fire Chief, Dave Vroman, the blaze was traced to a furnace recently installed. First Lutheran Church of Gypsum and Mount of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Vail took over ownership of the structure in 1989. Members were remodeling the structure to convert it into a parish hall.

The Odd Fellows Lodge was built on 2d Street in 1900. "The first story was used for a grocery store. It was run by John Miller and Mac Millan at first. It changed hands many times. Dan Dentor, Mr. Lucker, A. F. Carlson, and Don Lupton were some of the proprietors that had charge of it. It finally was made over into a dance hall which it is now." -- History of Eagle County, 1940, p. 242

17) Odd Fellows Hall

The Odd Fellows Hall building taken from the yard of the Poor Farm in Gypsum. The Lutheran Church is at the right of the Hall. The cupola on the original building has been removed, a chimney and additional door appear as well (comparing this photo to 2011.006.001). The building has been remodeled to suit the purposes for which it was being used.

19) Shrine Lodge

A business card for the Shrine Lodge, "Starting Place for Mt. Holy Cross". The card advertises steam heat and hot and cold water in all the rooms for $1.50 a night (and up!). In the 1930s and 40s, pilgrimages to the top of Mount of the Holy Cross had become a destination for those believing in its healing and spiritual abilities.

The Red Cliff school house used prior to 1937. It later became the lodge for the Kinnikinick Circle No. 453 for the Women of Woodcraft [403 Pine St.], which was chartered on March 1, 1902.
