Edison T. Lenhart
September 17, 1927 - October 5, 2016
On Wednesday, October 5, 2016, Edison T. Lenhart passed away at the age of 89.
He leaves behind his wife, Rosetta P.; children, Lynn (Larry) Schuman, Cheryl (Bill) Thomas, Ed (Kathy) Lenhart; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Edison was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 17, 1927, to Edison Sebourne Lenhart and Catherine McNiff-Lenhart.
He grew up in NY and attended Valley Forge Military
Academy where he fell in love with horses. After graduating
Valley Forge, he became a riding instructor. He enlisted in the
US Army where he belonged to the 88th Division, 351st
Regiment. His regiment was one of the of last horse platoons
that was stationed in Italy during the occupaton period of WWII.
His group was known as "GI Cowboys." Anyone who knew him
knew him as the "Brooklyn Cowboy."
Edison married the love of his life on November 9, 1951. They
had a very adventuresome 65 years of marriage. Their ventures
took them up and down the East Coast from Florida to
Massachusetts and then to Colorado where they finally settled in Grand Junction in 1975. The rest of the family eventually settled here with them.
